Bloodworths on Bath Road in Cheltenham provide good old fashioned customer service, with staff who know their customers and the stock. They can be found amongst a number of interesting independent retailers in a lively and friendly shopping area. They stock a large range of quality pet foods as well as accessories such as collars, leads, beds, cages, toys, medicines, treats and bedding. Many more lines are available to order within a few days.

All their staff are genuinely interested in animal welfare, and will take time to answer your questions thoroughly, with an in depth knowledge of the product range on offer. A small range of hamsters and guinea pigs are available, which are perfect small animals to encourage children to learn good animal husbandry.

This Cheltenham pet store is believed to be the UK's oldest, and was founded by James Bloodworth in 1842. It started by supplying farmers and private customers with animal feed and then expanded with the opening of two more stores in Gloucester and Winchcombe. In 1934 two parading circus elephants entered the Cheltenham store to steal some treats! This story is still portrayed in five murals on a wall of the old Woolworth's store (now New Look) in Cheltenham’s High Street.
